What’s In Your Prize Box?

Fellow teachers, therapists, and moms … THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! If you’re anything like me, you probably like to provide your kiddos with some novel motivation. Whether it is something that can be earned every day or only earned for above and beyond behavior, you more than likely have your very own PRIZE BOX handy! Because of this, I wanted to pop in and show you how I use my prize boxes, what I typically include in them, and where I go to fill them up when they’re almost empty.

Although it’s one more thing for me to lug around, I have found it best to have two prize boxes;

  • Choice Chest: includes items that my kiddos can work towards earning and playing with then and there for break/earn time (when done, items go right back in the box to earn again another time in the future)
  • Treasure Trunk: includes items that my kiddos can work towards earning and taking home with them (typically earned at the end of the day/sent home in backpack)

I have found success with both of these options because my kiddos tend to be motivated differently, daily! It’s also nice to not always have items they can take home with them, because that means less re-filling for me (& my wallet thanks me).

Now, let’s talk about what’s inside! Here is a list of what is usually in mine:

  • Stickers/Sticker Books
  • Play-Doh
  • Lollipops
  • Bubbles
  • Squish Balls
  • Keychains
  • Pencils/Erasers
  • Mini Coloring Books/Crayons
  • Slinkies
  • Cars
  • Fidgets/Fidget Spinners

Getting these items can be pricey if you aren’t looking in the right places. With that being said, here are some of my favorite stores to shop:

  • Target Dollar Section
  • Five Below
  • Dollar Store
  • Amazon

So guys, what’s in your prize box?!

Thanks for reading! ~E~
